The NASPA API KC offers awards during the annual conference each year. Please see below for the 3 National Awards, descriptions and the recipients for each year.


DORIS MICHIKO CHING SHATTERING THE GLASS CEILING AWARD

The Doris Michiko Ching Shattering the Glass Ceiling Award honors professionals within the Asian/Pacific Islander/Desi American Community. Named for Dr. Doris Michiko Ching, the first Asian American NASPA President, this award recognizes those who have made an outstanding impact on the APIDA community and the student affairs profession through leadership, service, and scholarship. A recipient for this annual award is selected by a group of previous winners and presented at the NASPA National Conference.

HENRY GEE OUTSTANDING MENTORING AWARD

The Henry Gee Outstanding Mentoring Award honors an individual who has made significant contributions to the student affairs profession and Asian/Pacific Islander/Desi American community through mentoring. The award is named after Henry Gee, one of the APIDA community’s most notable mentors. A recipient for this annual award is selected by the current APIKC Co-Chairs after a national nomination process and presented at the NASPA National Conference.

Initiated in 2005, the VIP Award recognizes the exemplary leadership and involvement of individual members of the APIKC. Recipients for this annual award are selected by the current APIKC Co-Chairs and are presented at the NASPA National Conference.
